OUTstanding Speakers Series - June Matching Donation Challenge
A Renewed Challenge to Elevate LGBTQ Scholarship and Students.
During our Annual Celebration at Alumni Weekend, the Board of Directors announced the second major fundraising challenge for the OUTstanding Speakers Series endowment.
To strengthen the role which the LGBT Alumni Network can serve, Kevin Hochberg, AM’78, JD’84 and Jim McDaniel, AB’68, longstanding pillars of our LGBT alumni community, have decided to invest in this campaign by making a challenge gift. For every gift or pledge to the campaign over $50 between now and June 30, they will match the donation dollar-for-dollar, up to $15,000. Should we achieve our goal of raising this additional $15,000 in gifts and pledges by June 30, the campaign will have exceeded 50% of its fundraising goal of $100,000, which will endow the Series in perpetuity.
Please Contribute Today
Once the endowment is fully funded, the Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality will present the OUTstanding Speakers Series annual lectures, which will bring to the University professionals, scholars, and public figures who have made significant contributions to the LGBTQ community. Additionally, a student will be selected each year to receive the New OUTstanding Leader Award to recognize their impact on the LGBTQ community. The annual lecture and award ceremony will be held on campus and will be broadcast online to alumni globally.
Thank you for your support of the UChicago LGBTQ community and this important project of scholarship and activism.
